PIANO KIDSToday, our country witnesses a surge in the use of electronic piano music; and yet, one hardly discerns any significant systematized training of the same. With such a view to imparting the knowledge of the basics of piano and electronic keyboard playing to the little ones of our region, who comprise the future of our region and the country, the institute Piano Kids has assumed shape. The syllabus of this institute is based on the guidelines of the five-year syllabus of the legendary John Thompson and which is recognized by the Trinity College of Music, London. Under the supervision of Father J. Williams and the guidance of acclaimed musician of Assam Kushal Krishna Dev Goswami, who is also the principal of this institute, Piano Kids has been disseminating knowledge in this direction. The students of this institute are taught to read and write both the staff notation, used the world over as well as the swaralipi of the Hindustani Classical Music tradition, prevalent in Northern India. Till date, about sixty students have already studied under this syllabus, thereby being enabled to hone their skills and emerge as better performers of the piano and electronic keyboard under the tutelage of Kushal Krishna Dev Goswami.
Besides this, Piano Kids also endeavours to preserved the rich musical heritage of Assam and the Northeast through staff notations of the greatest musical compositions of this region and making them available to the world through the internet. In fact, the institute has already begun its first steps in this direction.
Further, Piano Kids has also introduced the preliminary lessons in recording music tracks in computer through latest software, which are used in the best recording studios across the world. This is incorporated in the last year of this five-year course. Such that, later on, if needed the students are qualified to take this up as a profession.
Along with training the young ones to be skilled piano and keyboard players, Piano Kids also seeks to imbue values into its students; so that they grow up to be good citizens of the society and the country. Often the latent talents of the children remain unexplored, or their development is obstructed due to lack of proper environment and proper channels of exposure. Piano Kids considers it a responsibility to contribute towards the intellectual and aesthetic development of the present generation. Piano Kids deeply believes that such a positive cultural environment generated by the children and the youths will usher in stability both at home and in the broader society.
